What to Expect

Assessment Process

All men attending AMHC will undergo basic medical assessment, including a detailed history and general examination in order to establish the exact nature and potential cause of the erectile difficulty they are experiencing.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in general terms will fall under:

  • Vascular Causes (including cardiovascular, hormonal or metabolic causes such as diabetic ED)
  • Neurogenic Causes (including post-prostatectomy ED)
  • Psychological Causes (including performance anxiety ED and other psychogenic ED issues).

Examination and investigations may include:

  • Height, weight, body fat, body mass index (BMI)
  • Blood pressure
  • Vascular resistance
  • General haematology, biochemistry, cholesterol, blood sugar and insulin levels and hormonal status (if clinically warranted)
  • Doppler ultrasound assessment of penile blood flow (only if clinically warranted)
  • Screening online self test for depression recommended by The Black Dog Institute
  • International Index of Erectile Function – Five screening (IIEF-5) questionnaire
  • Further baseline urological assessment, which may include digital rectal examination of prostate (DRE)
  • Patients with clear cardiovascular or urological concerns will be referred to appropriate specialists for further review
  • Some clients may be deemed appropriate for hormonal support treatments, psychological counselling or simple prescription ED medicine treatments (such as PDE5 inhibitors).
You may be suitable for Renova® treatment

A proportion of ED clients may benefit from a revolutionary, pain-free treatment available at AMHC which treats the ‘source’ of ED rather than the ‘symptoms’,1,2,3,4,5 using low intensity shockwaves, known as Linear Shockwave Therapy (LWST), in four different areas of the groin and penis to stimulate new blood vessels and increase penis blood supply.1,2,3
